An Introduction to Steven Koller

Steven Koller was born in New York to an Austrian father and American mother, and, therefore, holds dual citizenship in both countries. He was raised in a third country all together: Texas. Growing up in Dallas, he played soccer, swam, ran track and started exploring his artistic side on stage at Jesuit College Prep. After one incredibly fun and not very productive year at the University of Texas, Steven went to study abroad in his father’s native country.

After five years he left Vienna, Austria, with a degree in International Studies from Webster University and the beginnings of a portfolio containing the print work he did while in Europe. After some time home in Dallas, he made his way west and landed in Los Angeles in 1994. He enrolled in acting classes at UCLA, and entered a contest to win a role on Days of Our Lives. Steven beat out hundreds of other challengers and won the chance for a walk on role on the show and a meeting with the casting directors.

Soon after, he landed his first role on network television, playing an EMT on Aaron Spelling’s daytime series, Sunset Beach. He followed that with roles on other soaps and then was asked by producers to stand-in for Tom Cruise on the set of Mission Impossible 2. He followed that very informative time with roles on films from Pearl Harbor to Seabiscuit. Between television and film roles, Steven became very active in the theaters around southern California. He received rave reviews for his performances as Ross Gardiner in Visiting Mr. Green and Herr Schwarz in A Flea in her Ear.

In 2001 he returned to Vienna to co-star in continental Europe’s only English language production of Tony Kushner’s Pulitzer and Tony prize winning epic, Angels in America. He was cast against type and reveled in the chance to play the role of Louis Ironson.

More recently, Steven has had roles on many such network television shows as Will & Grace, Gilmore Girls, Sons of Anarchy, Private Practice and Parks and Recreation. He has had leading roles in such independent films as Largo for Glass Harmonica, Weather Girls, ESL and Agent 5.

He has had the immense privilege of working with some of Hollywood’s most talented players, and owes a debt of gratitude to Clint Eastwood, Kevin Costner, William Friedkin, Jeff and Beau Bridges and Larry Hagman. Steven also has been able to enjoy work time with the lovely and talented Jennifer Garner, Cherry Jones, Debra Messing, Gloria Reuben and Dee Wallace.

Steven is married, and lives in West Hollywood, California. He has one girl ... a dog.
